Kate Owen

Empty Studios

Kate’s studio sits among expansive farmland, where the openness of the landscape mirrors the clarity and space essential to her practice. Working full time as an artist since 2017, she creates semi-abstract interpretations of organic forms, drawing inspiration from fungi and cacti, sculptural structures that echo themes of individuality and interconnection.

Her process moves from observation and sketching into intuitive, large-scale mark-making, layering oil pastels, acrylics, and oil sticks to build luminous depth. Represented by Wentworth Galleries in Sydney and Brisbane, Kate’s work is held in private collections across Australia and internationally.
